Project

KaiOS is a web-based operating system that empowers

feature phone with 4G/5G capability and brings internet

to the unconnected people in the emerging markets.

My Role

I built and led the UX team to create the UX design for

the entire operating system and its eco system from ground zero. And we created a new product category - Smart Feature Phone, the first of its kind.

After creating Smart Feature Phone product category, KaiOS initiated Smart Touch project to continue providing affordable touch screen phone for emerging markets with our partners.

Again, I led the UX team to create the entire UX from scratch.

After Mozilla's Firefox OS project successfully launched light smartphones, Panasonic's TV division embraced the web platform and partnered with Mozilla to build its first 4K TV powered by Firefox OS.

My Role

As a UX manager for Firefox Mobile and Connected Devices, I took the challenge to lead the new OS launcher design with my team to collaborate product and engineering teams on both sides. Together, we delivered Panasonic's first 4K TV powered by Firefox OS with new Home 2.0 launcher design.

"What is your onboarding experience?" is a basic and common question from our partners such as Vodafone, AT&T or Nokia. A good onboarding experience makes it easy for existing and first time users to learn how to use the device easily, and we do it in a progressive and non-intrusive way.

Onboarding is one of the UX driven experience activities I managed for the team to improve the device accessibility.

An explorational project to demonstrate many possibilities of a web platform can do.

I managed the whole product concept design development from understanding technology feasibility, business opportunity, and user desirability to final working prototype.
